Anime summer aka summer 2022 will soon open. This season usually starts from July to September. Many titles have been prepared and some of them have been highly anticipated by anime fans.
Interestingly, the most anticipated anime for this summer's slot are mostly sequels. Some of them are on-going series whose fans continue to look forward to the continuation of the story. However, there is also a sequel to the anime that has been released for more than five years. Whatever, this summer anime can be a friend of those who don't have plans to go anywhere during the holidays like now. A series of interesting stories and awesome characters will appear to entertain you during the holidays. So, which summer anime should be on your watch list? Check out the following review!
1. Classroom of the Elite season 2 — July 4
It's been 5 years since the original season of Classroom of the Elite was released. The first season tells the story of Ayanokouji Kiyotaka who enters Class D at Koudo Ikusei High School. Class D is the worst of the worst. So, the goal of Ayanokouji, Suzune, and the others was to be the best. This anime is liked because of its interesting characters. This is because the series is intensive and psychologically driven by its characters. Season 2 of this series has been highly anticipated by those who like its season 1 which was released in 2017.
2. DanMachi season 4 — July 23
The anime with the long original title, Danjon ni Deai o Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru Darou ka (Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?), has an awesome season 3. The series explores the fate of monsters being hunted by humans in a dungeon, which forces Bell and his family to re-examine everything they know. However, the key gripe about the series is the lack of dungeon dives. However, the last season of DanMachi changed that. Bell and his family are again sent to the dungeon. Hopefully, this series can continue to not only build its world, but also develop the characters that make this series so likable.
3. Overlord IV — July 5
Overlord relies on many of isekai's worst tropes. This was especially so with how overpowered Momonga was. However, this has never stopped the series from becoming one of the most famous isekai anime series. The final season of Overlord focused on Ainz Ooal Gown continuing to conquer the world, with almost no one strong enough to challenge him. Fans can only guess how this season will end. Only those who read the light novels know. What is clear, his fanbase is still waiting, no matter what.
4. Kanojo, Okarishimasu (Rent-a-Girlfriend) season 2 — July 2
This anime was hated and liked by people when the first season came out. The protagonist is a jerk. But, audiences are willing to go through with it, especially once the story begins to develop. For those who haven't watched it, this series begins with Kazuya Kinoshita who decides to "rent" a girlfriend after being dumped by a girl. Even though his date with a woman, Chizuru, was going well, Kazuya was frustrated. He thought she was nice to him because that was his job. Kazuya's frustration leads to a series of events that only bind them even closer. Although this series has its drawbacks due to its poor protagonist, this anime can still get a season 2 after the original series was released in 2020.
5. Hatarakou Maou-sama! (The Devil is a Part-Timer!) season 2 — July 14
Hataraku Maou-sama! released in 2013. It took 9 years for fans to be able to get this anime sequel. The series is set in modern Japan and managed to reverse many of the isekai tropes before the genre became commonplace. When it was released, the series became very popular. With the light novel ending recently, there's never been a better time than now for a sequel. This anime is about Sadao Maou, who in his world is known as Satan. But, after losing, he arrived in Japan and lost all his strength. Without his powers, Sadao had no other choice but to work like an ordinary person. He then worked at a fast food restaurant called MgRonald's. Sadao's goal was to have money to survive and try to avoid strange people from his world in Ente Isla.
