Movies, Animation to Video Games DC Studio Overhaul New Boss

James Gunn was appointed as one of the bosses of DC Studio, at the end of October 2022. This is in line with major changes following the merger of Warner Bros. With Discovery, DC's booth has also changed.

James Gunn had shocked the public, considering that he was previously known as the director of Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy films. In The DC Extended Universe (DCEU), James Gunn is directing The Suicide Squad (2021).

It is estimated that the DCEU, which was started by Zack Snyder, will end with Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, which will be broadcast in December 2023. DC has a DC Extended Universe program whose original plan was to rival Marvel with Man of Steel in 2013 and follow Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice in 2016.

However, DCEU products seem to invite a lot of criticism and unsatisfactory results, while Marvel is growing with the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

James Gunn and producer Peter Safran as well as DC Studios will be in charge of DC films, television series and animation in place of DC Films. The two will work together directly under Warner Bros. CEO, David Zaslav.

Wonder Woman Is in Threat of Production

According to The Hollywood Reporter and Variety, the third Wonder Woman film is in danger of not being produced. The two media outlets received whispers from inside sources, who said that the director of these two female superhero films, Patty Jenkins, had sent an idea for a sequel to Wonder Woman 1984.

However, senior officials at Warner Bros. said the studio would not continue the project. The strategy for developing the DC cinema universe is said to be incompatible with the film project starring Gal Gadot.
