The figure of Edward Weevil is possibly a clone created by the World Government which failed in the story in the One Piece series. This speculation arose based on the attitude and behavior of Weevil that seemed not like an ordinary human. Moreover, there are things that are considered to support this speculation, such as the presence of distinctive features on the body.
As we know, the figure of Edward Weevil is a character who claims to be the son of Whitebeard and is also one of the former Shichibukai. We still don't know for sure who he really is or how he came from. However, there is an interesting speculation that states that there is a possibility that Weevil is a cloned character from the World Government.
Who is Edward Weevil
The character of Weevil was first introduced by Oda when Brannew discussed the new Shichibukai. According to him, Weevil is a very strong figure where his strength level is very similar to Whitebeard's figure when he was young. In his own story Weevil then first appears in chapter 802. At that time, Weevil is introduced as the son of an old woman named Miss Bakkin.
Bakkin, an old woman with short blonde hair, who claims to be the mother of Weevil, claims to have had a relationship with Whitebeard, and he is her ex-husband. And Weevil is the child of his relationship with Whitebeard. However, so far there is no concrete evidence regarding Bakkin's claim.
This is still a big question mark among the fans. Is Weevil really the son of Bakkin and Whitebeard? Had Whitebeard ever had a relationship with Bakkin before? Or is it all just engineering? If so, what is the real purpose? Even so, a lot of speculation circulating about Weevil.
One of the highlights is that he is actually a zombie. The sudden and immediate appearance of Weevil shocked the world, enough to make many people curious. Moreover, it is known that Weevil has tremendous power. On the other hand, there are also clues that support this speculation, such as the stitch marks on his face and body.
The zombies in Thriller Bark have the same scars. This is what later became the basis for speculation that Weevil might be a modified zombie. Stussy is known to be the clone of a Rocks pirate crew named Miss Buckingham Stussy. Based on this, there has been speculation that Weevil might not be a resurrected zombie but a failed clone. In his speculation, it could be that the World Government at that time was trying to create clones of the Rocks crew, one of which was Whitebeard.
However, in the process, the clone did not develop as expected. In effect, as we can see, Weevil has as powerful a power as Whitebeard. But, on the other hand, from a mental or personality perspective he looks like a child whose mentality is still not fully formed. Weevil Creator Puzzle
For now, it is still not known for sure who made or created Weevil. One of the strongest candidates is the World Government, considering they have the figure of Vegapunk and also abundant resources. The attempt to clone Whitebeard could also be an attempt by the World Government to increase their military strength.
Another speculation is Germa 66. As we know, when it comes to matters of cloning and Lineage Factor, Germa 66 is the party that is most diligent in making and creating clones. In fact, their entire army was cloned by Vinsmoke Judge. Presumably, Weevil was one of Germa's early test subjects.
However, because it was considered a failure in the end they then threw it away, as the World Government was likely to do. These two parties have a great opportunity to become the creators of Weevil. Miss Bakkin could also have been a Weevil creator, though the chances were slim. Why? Because, we still don't know a lot about who he really is, what his abilities are, and so on.
