These 5 Justice League Were Once Villains

Several members of the Justice League hero team have turned out to be villains, which makes them a huge threat to all. As geeks know, the Justice League is the most popular and most powerful superhero team in the DC universe. This team of heroes is perhaps best known for the three DC heroes (DC Trinity) – Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman.

However, over time this team has grown and has many members. Although they are all heroes, not all of them are good figures. Sometimes, whether due to personal decisions or unforeseen circumstances, they all turn out to be criminals. Here are some Justice League members who turned evil.

Green Lanterns

Green Lantern is one of the classic DC Comics characters who finally decides to join the Justice League, despite having his own team, the Green Lantern Corps. Unlike the other characters, who know what makes them evil, Hal Jordan is actually not aware that he has turned evil. This is because Hal is under Parallax control.

Parallax himself is a big enemy for the Green Lanterns, where his figure will control the minds of the Lanterns and turn them evil. This is what happened to Hal Jordan, where when under control of Parallax he turned yellow. In effect, Hal attacked all of his comrades in the Green Lantern Corps and even took their lives. Luckily, Hal manages to come to his senses and become a Green Lantern again.

The story of Billy Batson aka Shazam turning evil is also similar to Green Lantern, where he is not fully aware and is wrong when he turns evil. In the comic Kingdom Come, the villain who is Superman's rival, Lex Luthor, manages to influence and control the figure of Billy Batson who has grown up. With his manipulation, Lex managed to make Shazam fight against Superman.

With Shazam's strength that is almost on par with Superman, Billy almost killed the strongest hero. Luckily, Shazam managed to regain his senses when he was actually influenced and manipulated by Lex Luthor. However, realizing what Lex Luthor's next plan would be, namely to kill all metahumans, Billy also sacrificed himself by detonating a bomb that had been prepared by Lex.

The Flash

In the history of its appearance in DC Comics, the title of The Flash has been held by various characters. One of them is Wally West. Wally himself once turned evil when he re-appeared in stories in the Rebirth series. In the story, Wally still doesn't remember what happened in the previous universe. Because of this "confusion" Wally finally got angry and started acting out of control.

He also began to kill many innocent people. Seeing this situation, several characters such as Batgirl, Booster Gold, and even Harley Queen, join forces to stop Wally. And their efforts were successful. Actually, Barry Allen has also turned evil as shown in the third season of The Flash series. In the story, a villain named Savitar appears and threatens everyone.

Savitar plans to finish off Iris West, unless they all manage to change the future. After being traced, it turns out that Savitar is none other than Barry Allen from the future. Fortunately, Barry Allen from the future was stopped and Barry Allen from the present tries to build a different future from his wife, Iris.

Wonder Woman

Actually, Wonder Woman's transformation into evil in the DC universe is quite different from the characters above. The crime that Diana did was to allow and support what Superman did in the Injustice series. While all of Superman's friends and allies oppose what he does, this is not the case for Wonder Woman.

Superman is the embodiment of something positive, something good. He represents justice, honesty, a concept that is perhaps no less familiar than Captain America. Because of that, when Superman later went bad everything turned terrible. In fact, the destruction generated by Superman is immeasurable due to the power he has. Superman's change to evil occurs in the story of Injustice.

As heroes, the members of the Justice League are certainly very reliable, especially since they have super powers. However, the opposite happens when they become monstrous figures where enormous destruction becomes an inevitability. This also proves that what Batman plans and fears is proven and we can also see how terrible it is when the Justice League turn evil.
