Get to know Vector Prime, the Time Traveling Transformers

In the wider Transformers universe, until now there are still many mysteries that have not been answered even by the sophisticated robots from the planet Cybertron itself. One of the most complicated and interesting mysteries is the concept of how the timeline and multiverse work. Interestingly, of the many Transformers robots that know the answer, only Vector Prime, a single entity that exists only one in the multiverse. This can happen because basically Vector Prime is the only time-traveling Transformers. Curious as to what its origins and prowess? Let's talk about it, geeks!

Guardian of Time and Space in the Multiverse

First introduced in Transformers: Cybertron (2005), Vector Prime is one of the first thirteen Transformers, aka the Thirteen Primes, created by Primus to fight Unicron. Out of the thirteen Primes whose strength is beyond doubt, Primus deliberately appointed Vector Prime to be the guardian of time and space in the multiverse. Although the historical records of the Transformers put his age at around 25 million years, he claims that he has existed for 9 billion years. This is what then makes their origins overlap.

Because his age is not tied to the timeline, there are also many beings in the universe who nicknamed Vector Prime the 'First Autobot'. The fact is that he never felt part of any group of robots, neither Autobot nor Decepticon. Previously he had indeed held the Matrix of Leadership which made him the leader of the Transformers on the planet Cybertron. But after becoming the guardian of time and space, he finally decided to leave Cybertron and separate himself from his people emotionally, culturally, and also politically.

However, deep inside he is a good Transformer who never forgets his people. Because like it or not he's basically a Cybertronian, including Autobots and Decepticons, is why he became the guardian of time and space in the first place. That's why Vector Prime still occasionally participates in large-scale battles. For example, when Unicron attacked Cybertron, this forced him to unite with Autubot and Decepticon so that their hometown would not be destroyed.

Able to Match The Chaos Bringer

Apart from his age which may be too old to fight, in reality Vector Prime is a Transformers whose prowess is second to none. In the history of Transformers, it seems that only Vector Prime is capable of warping time and space. With this ultimate ability, he is shown to be able to travel through time and even the multiverse, to hunt down anything that can disturb the balance and stability of the universe, such as Unicron the Chaos Bringer whose existence threatens the multiverse itself.

In Cybertron's battle against Unicron, Vector Prime was even shown to be able to survive Unicron's deadly attack which is famous for being able to wipe out the galaxy with ease. Unfortunately, having used his power to warp space and time for 9 billion years, Vector Prime is still not strong enough to single-handedly defeat Unicron. However, anyone below Unicron's level was not a significant threat to Vector Prime. Even if he lost, Vector Prime could go back in time to change his history output.

Besides all the extraordinary powers he has, Vector Prime also has one mainstay sword that can be used to attack or defend, namely Rhisling. He also has a Guardian Mini-Con robot called Safeguard, whose strength is probably no less powerful than the Autobot and Decepticon members. With all this we can conclude that Vector Prime is the strongest Transformer in the universe, who can only be defeated by his creator Primus or the bringer of destruction Unicron.

Has Appeared in Transformers Movies

For loyal fans of the Transformers film directed by Michael Bay, you may have seen the live action version of Vector Prime in the flashback story Revenge of the Fallen (2009). Where he and other members of the Thirteen Primes were betrayed by their own brother, namely The Fallen aka Megatronus. Although not as strong as the original version, in order to save the Matrix of Leadership he is willing to sacrifice himself to create the Tomb of the Primes, hoping that one day the descendant of Prime who is none other than Optimus Prime can find it.
