MODOK turns out to have joined the Avengers

Who would have thought that MODOK actually joined the Avengers hero team in the comic story. As geeks know, MODOK is one of the villains that will appear in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantummania. This has even been known since the release of the official trailer. It is known that MODOK will be the villain in the film along with Kang the Conqueror.

Even though MODOK is a character that just appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, MODOK is actually not a foreign name. Marvel Comics itself often presents various stories that present the figure of MODOK, which results in various variants of the villain. However, what's interesting is that MODOK was once a member of the Avengers team.

MODOK in the MCU

The appearance of MODOK in the MCU is one of the big surprises presented by Marvel Studios for fans. As mentioned above, MODOK first appeared in the MCU in the film Quantummania. Unlike the comic version, the figure behind the killing machine is not George Tarleton, a technician who works and works on various important projects in A.I.M's lab.

The figure behind the name MODOK in the film Quantummania is Darren Cross. If geeks remember, Darren is a former scientist and also a subordinate and successor of Hank Pym. Darren learned a lot from Hank and he has a very big ambition, which is to take ownership of Pym Industries. He also attempted to learn Hank Pym's size manipulation abilities.

Unfortunately, Darren actually created chaos with his ambition. In the first Ant-Man film, it was shown that Darren then assumed the identity of the Yellow Jacket. He uses the same technology that Scott uses. At the end of the film, Scott manages to sabotage the technology in Darren's costume which makes him disappear and is presumed dead.

However, it turns out, based on the Ant-Man 3 trailer, it is known that Darren has not died. He entered and was trapped in the Quantum Realm. What's even more terrifying is that Darren later meets Kang the Conqueror. Using his advanced technology, Kang then turned Darren into a killing machine which later became known as M.O.D.O.K. This is what later made Kang and M.O.D.O.K. worked together on the film Quantummania.

M.O.D.O.K. Comic

After the MCU version, then what kind of M.O.D.O.K. comic version? The name M.O.D.O.K. or Mental Organism Design Only for Killing only appeared when George Tarleton turned into an android with high intelligence. George is a technician working for the crime group Advanced Idea Mechanics (A.I.M). At that time, it was discovered that A.I.M. gave George the task of conducting research related to one of the cosmic objects, namely the Cosmic Cube.

Ironically, in that study A.I.M. used George Tarleton to be their research subject in order to understand more about the Cosmic Cube. Unexpectedly, it turns out that how they used Tarleton as a research subject turned into something terrible. Tarleton actually mutated into a figure with super high intelligence.

And what's interesting is that initially the mutation that occurred to George Tarleton was named Mental Organism Designed Only for Computing (M.O.D.O.C.). Unfortunately, the A.I.M. as a result of his bad attitude and not treating George well, which in the end became the trigger for George to kill all the top officials of A.I.M. and took over the organization.

Apart from eliminating the top A.I.M. the figure of George Tarleton also eventually changed the name M.O.D.O.C. become Mental Organism Designed Only For Killing aka M.O.D.O.K. Under the control of M.O.D.O.K. highly intelligent, the A.I.M. organization has become even more terrifying and a much bigger threat than before. In fact, the organization belonging to the American government, S.H.I.E.L.D., is quite difficult to be able to deal with this criminal organization and has also been a threat to the Avengers.

M.O.D.O.K. So Avengers

Talking about Avengers, maybe not many geeks know that M.O.D.O.K. it turns out that he once joined the Avengers team, namely the Secret Avengers, although not for a long time. This is shown in the comic story Secret Avengers Vol. 3. In the comics, at first, MODOK tries to destroy S.H.I.E.L.D. and also Maria Hill. He and his assistant, Snapper, had worked out a plan as detailed and precise as possible.
