This can happen because Ant-Man's sophisticated helmet is equipped with an EMP Communication Device, so that the user's thoughts can be translated into electromagnetic waves that resemble ant pheromones. This ability allows an Ant-Man to influence every action and habit of ants, for example ordering an ant colony to help him carry out his mission as an ant man.
