Even though Madame Web's release schedule is still one year away, many fans can't wait to see this Spider-Man spinoff film soon. This is because there are many interesting characters who are rumored to appear in the Marvel live action film version of Sony's Spider-Man Universe, one of which is Spider-Woman.
After being rumored to be playing Spider-Woman, this time actress Emma Roberts finally opened up about her actual role in the Spider-Man spinoff film. For those who don't know, previously there were several leaks of Madame Web's behind-the-scenes photos showing Roberts leaving the set with her pregnant belly.
Based on this, many fans have speculated that Emma Roberts' role in the Spider-Man spinoff will be Jessica Drew aka Spider-Woman, who was told in the comics that she was pregnant while acting as a spider-man. Even so, we also need to note that her appearance on the Madame Web set at that time was only wearing a normal negligee, not a superhero costume.
Recently in an interview with the Shut Up Evan podcast, Emma Roberts finally revealed what her role in the upcoming Madame Web film will be like, which according to her is not the superhero as rumored. “All I can say now is I'm not a superhero [at Madame Web]. Some people might think he's a superhero, but in fact he's not, because I don't have any supernatural powers,” said Roberts.
Even though he didn't explain in detail the name of his character, for now Roberts can only promise that the film will not be a Marvel film in general. “This is very different from most Marvel films, the story is very basic. What I love about this film is that it has so many great actresses, so the story is very focused on women, and I think it's maybe not what people expect," added Roberts.
The point of Emma Roberts' latest statement is that the Spider-Man spinoff film she stars in will exceed fans' expectations, even though the character she plays is not Spider-Woman. This certainly makes the upcoming Madame Web film sound even more interesting, considering that Venom and Morbius from Sony are considered to be less successful in presenting mainstream superhero shows. Madame Web's success will only be revealed when the film opens on February 16, 2024.
